What is poetic justice?
Poetic Justice is a peace-building and community safety program that integrates poetry and creative writing to foster social connectedness and cultivate visions of safe, nurturing communities through asset-based community development projects. Members of Poetic Justice cohorts meet once a week (1.5- 2 hours/ week) for 15 weeks. During this time, we will learn to use poetry as a “lens” to see our communities and activate our social imaginations. We will write poetry, engage in meaningful dialogue, and learn asset-based practices that will be used to strengthen Indy neighborhoods, cultivate joy, and foster peace. At the end of the 15-week program, each participant will emerge as a published poet certified in asset-based community development and ready to lead community-based projects. Each Poetic Justice cohort concludes with a final celebration. During the celebration, we’ll showcase the writing of the participants and learn more about each participant’s community project. As a Poetic Justice alum, you will have an opportunity to join a supportive network and increase your social currency.
How Much Does Poetic Justice Cost?
Poetic Justice is free to join. Additionally, we provide a small fund to support community based projects and other eligible expenses.
